Who doesn’t want to have frizz-free, less damaged and bouncy hair? Going for DIY hair treatment for damaged hair kind of gives life to your dull hair. Some are blessed with beautiful long hair while others need patience, effort, and a little bit of extra pampering. We all are tempted to spend on expensive salons even though we are aware of the fact that those chemicals and dyes can be harmful in the long run. With the right ingredients straight from your kitchen, you can treat your damaged dull hair at home and flaunt your silky and lustrous hair with delight.

Before we start with DIY treatment for damaged hair let me share you certain tips that we always need to keep in mind.

  • It is very important to stay hydrated, drink minimum 3 Liters of water every day for healthy skin and hair.
  • Eat healthy foods rich in protein, vitamins, and minerals.
  • Try to skip heat styling tools. I know for regular users it is so tough, especially who rush early in the mornings but try to limit your usage to once a week. Trust me, it will save your hair from getting more damaged. I have noticed split ends on continuous use of straighteners but somehow hair serum came to my rescue. You can apply it just before the application of any heat to protect your hair from heat damage.
  • Do not shampoo your hair daily. As crazy as it may sound but on regular cleansing you are stripping of your natural oils or sebum which can lead to dry scalp.

Now moving on towards hair masks recipes:

DIY Hair Treatment For Damaged Hair

1. Egg And Olive Oil Hair Mask:

Eggs are rich in vitamins, proteins, essential fatty acids and antioxidants which can repair various hair related problems. Now depending on your hair type, you can decide how to use the mask. For oily hair use egg whites, for dry hair use yolk, and for normal hair use the whole egg. Add milk and olive oil to the mixture. Use a whisk to mix them together. You can squeeze a lemon into the mixture for extra shine and get rid of that eggy scent. Now apply the mixture on your hair from root to tip until it is completely coated. You can put a shower cap to make it less messy. Leave the mask for about 2 hours. Then rinse it off with cold water with a mild shampoo. Use this once a week for best results. Do not wash this mask with hot water as it will cause the egg to clump in the hair making the whole process a lot messier. You can find more awesome egg recipes here.

2. Yogurt Honey Hair Mask:

Yogurt is rich in protein that nourishes your hair making it stronger and healthier. It acts as a natural conditioner. Honey has excellent moisturizing properties which work best to treat your dull and frizzy hair. Make sure to use plain yogurt, not sweetened or flavored. Mix the ingredients in a bowl to make a smooth paste. Apply the mixture on your hair and let it sit for approx 1 hour. Wash it off with lukewarm water.

3. Hair oil:

Oiling your scalp is crucial for nourishing your hair. And we all might be aware of this holy grail ingredient: coconut oil which is a remedy for all beauty related problems. It acts as a heat protectant that repairs your damaged frizzy hair. Castor oil contains Vitamin E, minerals, and antioxidants which is great for hair growth thereby making it stronger, smoother and healthier. And mixing this wonderful ingredient with castor oil takes you to next level. Since the consistency of castor oil is thick, add in 2:1 ratio with coconut oil for better application. You just need to warm both the oils by adding some curry leaves. Curry leaves prevent premature hair greying. It’s a great ingredient to restore your hair color. Combining oil with the goodness of curry leaves strengthens your hair roots while curbing hair loss. You can even prepare your own magical oil by mixing all hair loving ingredients. 4. Hibiscus Petals Paste:

This age-old remedy has gained its popularity because of its ability to stimulate hair growth, dandruff treatment and premature greying. It is rich in vitamin C that promotes hair growth, rich in amino acids that nourish your hair keeping your locks healthy and bouncy. In short, it is all in one solution for all hair related problems. Grind soaked fenugreek seeds(methi), henna leaves, hibiscus petals and leaves to a fine paste. Squeeze a lemon into the mixture until you get a smooth consistency. Lemon is great to treat your dandruff and remove dirt from your scalp. Apply the paste on your hair from root to tip. Let it sit for about 1 hour. Wash it off with a mild shampoo. Use this treatment once a week to get rid of dandruff or any hair related problems.
