Winter is coming!! It’s time to treat your severe chapped lips. With a change in the season, your lips become dry, flaky and cracked. Sadly your lip balm is not enough to moisturize your lips. Your lips deserve extra attention so it’s very important to keep them hydrated. Well, the good news is there are home remedies that work great on your severe chapped lips. So mission “Baby Soft Lips” begins now:

1. Sugar Honey Lip Scrub:

One of the best ways to treat your dry and chapped lips is to exfoliate them. And the most effective lip scrub is using brown sugar that can scrape away the dead skin cells from the lips. Apply the coarse paste of sugar and honey on your lips and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Gently scrub your lips with fingertips to remove dead cells. Wash it off with warm water, then moisturize with a lip balm.

2. Green Tea Bag:

Green tea contains antioxidants that can soothe your cracked lips. Steep a tea bag in boiling water and while you’re enjoying your tea, let it slightly cool. Apply it on your lips for 3-4 mins. It will moisturize your lips and give relief to the burning red sensation.

3. Tropical Oils:

Coconut oil is an excellent natural moisturizer. Just apply some amount of coconut or olive or castor oil and leave it for a few minutes. It heals and softens your lips.

4. Rose And Milk Paste:

Rose petals come to your rescue when you are dealing with painful chapped lips. Soak the rose petals in milk for a few hours. Make a paste of the mixture and apply it on your lips. Let it stay for 15 minutes then wash it off. Do this for 2 to 3 times for best results. This helps to retain the moisture and color of the lips as well as treating your severe chapped lips.

5. Aloe Vera:

Aloe vera is known for its anti-inflammatory properties that can work wonders on your painful cracked lips. Cut an aloe leaf and scoop out the gel. Apply it to your lips. Its soothing properties will heal and relieve the pain. Quick Tips:

  • Drink plenty of water and use a humidifier.
  • Don’t lick your lips. Many people are under the false assumption that coating your lips with a layer of saliva will somehow keep them moist, but as the saliva evaporates, your lips will be more dryer than before. Stop licking!!
  • Don’t bite or touch your lips. When you take out the flaky layer of skin from your lip, your lips somehow bleed exposing them to germs or bacteria.
  • Always follow a healthy diet.
