While scrolling through my Instagram if there is anything that gets under my skin it’s the perfect, dewy, flawless, acne free skin. It doesn’t matter whether it’s photoshopped or some filter effect, the thirst to achieve that dream skin made me experiment with natural ingredients. And since I’m prone to pimples, I’m quite skeptical about trying out any new cosmetic range. So my hunt came to an end when I stumble upon this new ingredient that was lying in my refrigerator-Yogurt or curd or dahi. This all-rounder superfood works wonders on your health, skin, and hairs. Yogurt is rich in proteins, vitamins, minerals such as zinc and calcium which is necessary for healthy teeth and bones as well as improving body metabolism. It even contains probiotics, the healthy bacteria that can boost your digestive health. Yogurt contains lactic acid that helps in diminishing existing fine lines, wrinkles and shrinks existing pores. It even exfoliates your dull skin making it soft and smooth. The presence of vitamin B (riboflavin) keeps your skin hydrated and glowing which is necessary for cell growth and regeneration. The zinc content of yogurt contains anti-inflammatory properties that can treat acne and regulate oil production.  It even helps in getting rid of your suntan or sunburns. Make sure you are using unflavoured yogurt from your store. Flavored yogurt may cause any irritation in your skin. Use this mask several times a week to rejuvenate your skin making it healthy and youthful. Now that we know how yogurt mask benefits your skin, let me share some face masks that you can try out at home.

Yogurt Mask Benefits

1. Yogurt Mask For Skin Lightening:

Take 2 teaspoons or more of yogurt as required and mix it well. Add 2-3 drops of lemon juice. Apply it evenly on your face. Wash it off after 20-30 minutes. Yogurt will take care of your blemishes or sunburn or uneven complexion. While lemon juice contains citric acid that has skin lightening properties.

2. Yogurt Mask To Shrink Pores:

Take 2 teaspoons or more yogurt as required and mix it well. Add 1 tablespoon of raw honey into the mixture. Apply it evenly on your face and let it sit for 20-30 minutes. Wash it off with cold water.

3. Yogurt Mask For Acne:

Simply apply yogurt on your face evenly and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Repeat this process in every alternate day for best results. Its acidic nature works best in fighting against acne-causing bacteria.

4. Yogurt Mask As Face Scrub:

You can use yogurt as a face scrub to remove dry dead skin cells thereby moisturizing your face and keeping it hydrated. All you need is 2 tablespoon of yogurt and 1 tablespoon of oats. Apply it evenly and let it sit for 15 minutes. Rinse it off with cold water by gently massaging in circular motions. This is a very simple and natural way to exfoliate your face.

Or You can apply the mixture of rice powder and yogurt to get rid of pigmentation, blackheads or whiteheads.

5. Yogurt Mask For Premature Ageing:

Yogurt contains anti-aging properties that fight off free radicals. Regular application of yogurt with mashed banana paste will diminish fine lines to some extent. Apply it evenly on your face and let it sit for 15 minutes. Wash it off with cold water.

Or you can stir 1 teaspoon of turmeric with yogurt and apply the paste on your face. Turmeric is a great ingredient for fighting acne and slowing the aging process. So this pack gives you double benefits. 😉

Note:  After applying the yogurt mask your face will feel stiff and tight, so apply your moisturizer immediately. And it is advisable while waiting for any face mask to dry, not to move your face muscles which means no smiling or no talking else indirectly you are stretching your skin.
